Rupertswood Mansion is a place steeped in history. Known as the ‘birthplace of the ashes’, Rupertswood is the home of this cricketing tradition. It all started as a social game between visiting English cricketers and a local team made up largely by Rupertswood staff.
Sir William Clarke built the mansion in 1874, and Rupertswood soon became the social hub of the colony. The Clarkes of Rupertswood entertained anyone of note in Victorian and Edwardian society. Today, Rupertswood remains one of Australia's most elaborate mansions and has returned to its original function as a centre of great entertaining.
The magnificent mansion has been lovingly restored to its original grand colour scheme and furnished throughout with orginal antiques. Imagine the amazing opportunities for fabulous photographs on your wedding day, using the opulence of Rupertswood's Victorian rooms as a backdrop.
Rupertswood prides itself on meticulous attention to detail, exceptional food and professional service. What more could you hope for on your wedding day? And after staging the biggest day of your life within its stately walls, why not maintain the high standards and stay the night! The mansion is now offering some of the finest rooms in the state for accommodation. Experience their beautifully appointed rooms that once hosted the creme of colonial society- from a charming room in the servants' wing to the sumptuous Governor's suite.
