Helen Lindsay at In Full Bloom

Helen Lindsay and her iconic South Melbourne store, In Full Bloom, have been meeting the needs of brides for many years with elegance in floral design.
As one of Australia's premier floral designers, Helen was inducted into the Australian Florists Association Hall of Fame in 1994 - an honour bestowed only upon outstanding contributors to the art of floral design.

Helen, how would you describe your style of floristry?
I would say simple, elegant and fresh.

What is your background in floristry and how long have you been running In Full Bloom?
I started out at the age of 16 straight from school. Eventually I had my own business - Helen Lindsay's Flowers - since 1971, combined with my husband Bryan Frost who owned In Full Bloom 15 years ago.

How many weddings do you do a year?
Between 120 and 200.

There seems to be so much choice available in wedding flowers - where should a bride begin in making decisions about what she wants?
Start with the fabric colours of the bride and attendants, speak with a bridal specialist in flowers and let them guide you with a variety of flowers and colour selections.

What colours are popular in bridal bouquets currently?
Pretty, pastel colours.

  



What styles of bouquet suit the current trends in bridal wear?
Natural stems and simplicity in design.

What are some beautiful ways of incorporating flowers into the wedding celebrations, apart from bouquets?
There are so many ways to incorporate flowers into a wedding celebration with beautiful floral decorations on table-centres, in marquees, reception venues, churches, on cakes, as buttonholes for the groom and as hair pieces for the bride, maids and flower girls.
